Why do Cardiovascular Exercise?

Cardiovascular exercise (or commonly referred to as just ‘cardio’) simply means any activity/exercise that raises your heart rate to a level where you’re working, but can still talk. Doing something that leaves you GASPING for breath still burns calories and helps lose weight, but doesnt really fall into the cardio category.

Why is it important?

* It burns calories and helps you lose weight (Yeay!!)
* It makes your heart strong so that it doesn’t have to work as hard to pump blood
* It increases your lung capacity
* It helps reduce risk of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes
* It makes you feel good
* It helps you sleep better
* It helps reduce stress

I could go on all day, but I think you get the point!

Bottom line: You need cardio if you want to get your weight under control and get your stress to a tolerable level.

So fast punctured already ah you? Heh heh. I dont have much stamina too la, but a decent paced cardio session for about 30 mins a day works wonders already, and you dont need to be an exercise freak to be able to do that.

Your salsa video may be too advanced la.. save the intense salsa-ing for the dance floor la ;)

mistyeiz:
You dont need fancy equipment to keep fit la..

How about going for a 45minute brisk walk around your housing area? - but remember to hydrate well (drink some water before you being) and do it with an empty stomach.

4 times a week for a month and i guarantee you results!

but i read some where that brisk/fast walking tends to put pressure on the ankles n can cause injury. not only that, to make matters worst, my taman is darn hilly. i tried a couple of times, came back panting like a dog only ler!! ;p

I thought brisk walking was pretty safe, and its running downhill that is bad for the joints.

I guess I could be wrong?

Run around in circles in your living room la.. he he.

Or do you have a bicycle? :D
