Exercise – Is timing everything?

by Noel Chelliah on Saturday, Nov 26, 2005

I hate it whenever I come across articles/writeups that contradict eachother in a fitness magazine. If the whole idea of fitness isnt already confusing to most people, trust these magazines to complicate things even further.

One writeup reveals that

if you’re having difficulty squeezing a workout into your busy schedule, studies have revealed that a few shorter periods of exercise/activity could be just as beneficial as a single longer session

which is excellent news!

However, in another writeup which talks about a study funded by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention,

women who brisk-walked for 30 minutes burned about 60 calories more per day than those who took three 10 minute walks. Which adds up to losing nearly 5 pounds a year. (You need to burn 3500 to lose 1lb of bodyweight).

Oh well, I guess at the end of the day, ANY exercise is better than none.
