Can you get rid of trouble spots with the right exercise?

by Noel Chelliah on Thursday, Dec 15, 2005

Many believe that if you were to exercise one area, you will be able to remove the fat from that area. For example, if I were to go to the gym and hog the ab machine and do 1000 sit-ups a day, i’ll have sexy washboard abs in no time!

The proof is undeniable – In the gym, men (who tend to store more fat in their abdomens) are on the ab machines, and the women are on the total hip machines/stepper for hours. Go check out the scene at your local gym and see it for yourself if you don’t believe me.

Are you ready for the truth? SPOT REDUCING IS A MYTH.

While ab and hip exercises can strengthen and tone those muscles, these muscles are actually underneath that layer of fat we carry around. Only by overall weight-loss can we get rid of excess fat in problem areas.

How do you lose weight? Weight-train, throw in some cardio, and watch what you eat to reveal a better you.

So, if the personal trainer or salesperson at the gym tells you that the ab machines are really good for trimming your midsection, SPANK him/her there and then.

I was just about to write about this in my next post at my blog.

Yeap, it is true. I tried and I failed. So, no such thing as spot reducing at abs…
