Homemade Protein Bar Recipe with Optimum Nutrition’s 100% Whey Protein Powder

by Noel Chelliah on Tuesday, Jun 20, 2006

*1/2 cup Instant Oats
*1/4 cup Natural Peanut Butter
*1 cup Skim Milk Powder
*1/2 cup Seedless Raisins
*1 1/2 cup Optimum Nutrition’s 100% Whey Protein (Chocolate flavour)

You need to mix all of the above ingredients together in a bowl and add just enough water to make a stiff mixture. Too much water, and you’ll end up with ON Whey Porridge, and your protein bars are screwed – so go slow when you knead the water into the mixture. Use your hands, and yes – they’ll get real sticky but you need to if you want to mix it well. Spray a cake pan or a tray of some sort with some cooking spray and flatten the mixture on the tray evenly.

Refrigerate for a few hours and then you’ll be able to cut into bars. The recipe supposedly allows for up to 12 bars to be cut, but I only managed to get 9. He he. My cutting skills suck.

For storage, you could wrap the bars in clingwrap, or foil, and store them in the fridge. When cut up to 12 bars, you’re supposed to be getting about 16 grams of carbs and 16 grams protein, 3g fat, and approx 166 calories. But since mine came up to 9 bars.. I’ll just eat them knowing I’m getting AT LEAST 16g of protein per bar. :)

By the way, they taste pretty alright. Nothing to really shout about, but fun if you’ve got the spare time to mess around in the kitchen. Plus, for those of you who work in the office and find it difficult to include additional meals into your diet, here’s an option you could consider.

Cosmetic surgery is very expensive and there are other ways to remove unwanted hair. With the help of science, thermage is something commonly used by different companies while lasik eye surgery is one method for getting rid of glasses.

dude…how about putting in durian and market it as Dura-Bar (hehe…maybe can out sell powerbars ;-))

:)

me and friends are finding way to mix condensed milk with durian to make Dura-gel, as opposed to powergel ;-) (LOL, that’s what we think powergel are anyway, sweet condensed flavoured milk!)

Stupe: I’ve always been curious about the nutritional breakdown of durians. I bet there’s lotsa fat in them too.. just unsure how much. You can pretty much tell when the fruit you’re eating has a creamy/fatty texture to it, like avocados too. I’ve never tasted powergel before, so I wouldnt know.

the powergel was given free, i almost choked the first time i took it, it has to be taken with water. I’ve also seen ppl in gym snacking on powerbar as if it is some miracle food. also those ORS(Oral Dehydration Salt) where some racers take as if it will help them prevent cramp…duh!!!!

anyway, as per requested (i’m a lulian lover)

avocado has 4.6gm of fat per serving(and a whooping 13.8g/100gm)…making it less favourable compared to lulian!!!
