Dear dailymuscle.com Readers,

This giveaway is exactly what the name suggests - A GIVE-AWAY!
No tough slogan writing or questions to answer. There’s no catch.

Thanks to the awesome folks at Fitness First Malaysia, you have a chance to grab one of the 10 x 2-week Passport double passes (for 2 persons). With the pass, you will be able to visit all Fitness First Health Clubs in Malaysia within that two week period for an unlimited number of times, and each pass is valued at RM400, so that’s RM4,000 in total!

So how do you win?
Oh, this is just too easy.

To submit your entry and to stand a chance to win a double pass, simply leave a comment below (less than 100 words) telling me what your experience with a Healthy Lifestyle has been.

Whether you saw results, achieved your goals, gotten rid of illness, improved your stamina, ran a marathon, improved your quality of life, experienced Personal Training - or even found a life partner - I want to hear your story!

All I’m looking for is YOUR story on how a healthy lifestyle, or exercising has impacted your quality of life.

Exercising improved your sleep? Tell me your story.
Exercising took away your dependancy on blood pressure medication? Tell me your story.
Exercising helped you shed the unecessary bodyweight, and you’re now living life to the fullest? Tell me your story.
Got a testimonial to share? Tell me your story.
Impressed a hot friend with your ‘new’ physique? Tell me your story!
You found some money while jogging in the morning? Tell me your story too!

Also, a Healthy lifestyle is not limited to exercising in the gym, but also healthier eating, cooking, games/activities everyday, etc. I’m sure you get the picture. Or even if you’ve never exercised before, and have yet to experience the health benefits of exercise - then tell me how you THINK exercise can help you! You’ll stand a chance to win too! Exercise is fun.

Your entry can range from a single sentence, to an entire paragraph - it doesn’t matter.

So that’s all you’ve got to do to be in the running. There will be 10 winners - and I will be drawing lots to determine the winner.

My reasoning for asking this of you
Every person has a dream, a story deep inside their hearts - and God put that dream there not for our sole benefit - but for everyone else as well. So whether you believe it or not, your story/belief/dream has the awesome ability to influence, encourage, and impact someone’s life. That’s exactly what I plan to accomplish with this giveaway. So actually.. we all win. :)

I strongly suggest you to subscribe to my email update (submit your email address below) to keep up to date on the announcement of winners, and other cool giveaways coming real soon. Winners for this giveaway will be announced on dailymuscle.com on the 20th of March 2008.

Don’t forget to include your valid email address when you submit your comment(entry) below, and don’t worry, as emails won’t be disclosed to the public in your comment, so you CAN submit ‘anonymous’ entries if it’s something personal.

I’m really excited - and really looking forward to see your entries below. Good luck!

*The prizes are valid only for Fitness First Health Clubs in Malaysia, so if you’re from another country, I apologize that the double pass won’t be of much use to you. However, even if you can’t use the prize, I urge you to contribute for the benefit of us all

Meh. I would like to add a warning on what to expect.

Before you show up for the first time, you MUST make an appointment. This is so that a consultant (aka salesperson) can convince you to join on the very first day. And their pitch is quite annoying and cheesy: “Don’t you want to look good at the beach? People nowadays need to look good and socialize.”

If you don’t join, expect some follow-up sales calls in the next few weeks. If you do join, ask for their senior marketing guy to negotiate for better prices, another free 2 weeks or some free goodies.

Also, I’m not very comfortable with the usual marketing gimmick of, “This pass is worth RM400″. It’s not really worth that much, is it. Monthly membership is about RM150-RM175. So it’s worth about that. Yes, they charge you probably RM60 for 1 day, but you know no one goes for that. They’ll just work out at the hotel or just do calistechnics. This gimmick is quite usual, but still quite misleading all the same.

Healthy I’m not
A health plan I need to sort
Diet, fitness and weight loss
You think I’ll be able to do it or not?

Breakfast at McD
Lunch I’ll have curry
Dinner and supper never failed me
I should be eating only fruits and vege.

What is RPM?
And also BodyJam
I bet I’ll get muscles cramp
Once I kick off my fitness plan.

It’s definitely not going to be easy
To lead a healthy lifestyle that is so not me
But I’ll get rid off these fats you see
And regain confidence that is absent in me.

I used to be an obese teenager. I had low self-esteem, suffered fatigue, anti-social and shy. I suffered from chronic depression. I didn’t have anything good about me.
I went to Uni and fell for a girl. But as always, I had no chance and was turned down. This rejection really impacted me negatively, but made me determined to prove to everybody that I can so much more.
The beginning of the new me started in September 2006. When I returned for second year at uni, I joined the university gym class. The people there became like brothers to me. They gave me support and advice. We basically bonded by pumping iron.
I wouldn’t say the journey was easy, and it certainly is not over for me. I have gone from an obese 110kg fat kid to a lean mean man of 77kg. I have the abs to prove it today.
This new lifestyle has helped me so much. It was the best decision in my life. It has boosted my confidence, personality, basically my life.
This life has allowed me to attain so much.

you know what DM, alot of people started working out to lose weight, or gain weight for whatever reason..

i for one, started because i had to vent out excess energy on something. That time, i had just gotten out of a bad relationship so there’s alot of anger, frustrations and all that excess baggage that comes with it.

i’ve always been able to lean on playing basketball whenever i’m in a bad mood or having a funk way in the past… but this time, it can no longer help. I was afraid that i’d be just too aggressive with the guys that i ball with… so i had to channel all the energy elsewhere.

thats when i start to pick up the weights. i get the satisfaction and relief after a good day’s worth of training. And the only thing got in between me and my moodiness is the iron and dumbells.. so nobody got hurt.

what was an outlet of anger now became a passion, became an integral part of my life.. so now i’m in the iron game just for the fun of it. Breaking a sweat and enjoying my alone time.

======================

i really feel that my life have altered in a positive direction since the iron game started for me. My training routines and goals might have changed, but the love stays the same.

choosing to improve myself physically had such profound impact on who i am now. i can honestly say that i am a better person now, compared to the guy coming out of a real bad situation just a couple years before.

now i’m happy, fit and enjoying life to the fullest.

I used te receieve all kinds of sms-es from celebrity fitness, all in regards with their promotions. It can get pretty annoying ..

Just a few years back, I broke my right arm in an accident. Couldn’t write, couldn’t eat properly, couldn’t play sports. Hey, I was the average Chinese-boy who loved basketball, imagine Ronaldinho with a broken leg. Took me months before the doctor could break the bloody cast on my arm, but then tells me to ’stay away from intense activities’. Having paranoid parents, it was almost half a year later that I finally got the thumbs up for playing sports. However, nine months of ‘death’ took its toll on me. I felt like Maradona from a few years back. I was weak and my stamina was as good as my grandma’s. Heck, my grandma probably could have outrun me. Then came weight training and supplements. Probably could bench press Maradona now. Sweet.

aw: This isn’t your everyday free trial you get. FF doesn’t always hand out 2 week trials. You’ll be lucky if you get a week for free. And to add icing on the cake - it is a Passport membership for 2 weeks, for 2 people. Also, there is no need to make an appointment before redeeming it. Just take the letter - and walk in to the branch of your choice.

I used one of these with a friend recently, and of course, you can’t blame them for trying to convince you to join the first time you meet someone there. But I was polite and told the consultant that I just wanted to redeem the 2 weeks, and nothing else, and I was never annoyed again. And of course, my friend still did join once her 2 weeks were up. :)

Thanks guys for the entries - keep ‘em coming!

I used the 2-week trial membership, access to all clubs, for 2 people, in Dec 2007. They told me I had to make an appointment. I went with a friend. I joined and he didn’t joined. He got a sales call later, but admittedly it was a polite call. So I know exactly which trial you are talking about. I got mine from Senheng.

As an employee of FF, I can tell you I’ve never heard of anyone getting 2 week PASSPORT trial before… so yup, it’s a darn good deal!!

To the winner, do try the GX classes:)

(Sorry DM, just a bit of advertising)

LOL shades

aw: Do I look like a Senheng outlet to you? :P
Believe me - it’s not the same. Anyway, I’d rather you submit an entry & share your story for everyone’s benefit - rather than to shoot down my prizes. Got a story to share bro?

shades: Nice to see you here.

Being healthy is key to successful life. Without our health it becomes very difficult to achieve anything else in life. It can be defined as a complete state of physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being. Basically living a healthy life means looking at your lifestyle as a whole, it is not just about diet and exercise. There are seven simple rules that you can follow to maximize a healthy lifestyle: exercise regularly,
eat the right foods, keep a healthy weight, watch your cholesterol, sleep well, don’t smoke and don’t use drugs. Following the rules above does not guarantee that you will live a long life without sickness, but it will greatly increase your chances of living a healthy life.

Before my life was mainly work and during weekends i got drunk and wasted. Thats the lifestyle i was happy with until i got really sick and was diagnosed with high blood pressure and a high liver toxicity all due to work stress, cigarettes and alcohol abused. my work suffered tremendously and so does my social life as i always feel tired and lethargic. People told me i look haggard and overweight as i have been eating junk food all the time and never get to exercise. I decided to do something with my life and for vanity purposes wanted to look better and feel more attractive. i came across many sites including dailymuscle (what a great site for local people with local insight) when i was searching online for articles on how to loose fat and build muscle the fastest way! now i came to realise that theres no such thing as a short cut way to a healthy lifestyle but a strong dedication to a better diet and nutrition combined with a sound weight training and aerobics plan. instead of just eating whatever i can get my hands on that day (mcdonalds,kfc-my favorite, mamak, mamak, mamak!) i opt for more healthier alternative like oatmeal, tuna sandwiches, lean beef chicken as my staple dailydiet, but on occasions i let myself indulge in my favorite meal once a week or two. I cut off sugary drinks, drinks plenty of water and instead of sweets n junk food i have fruits as much as i want which i realise it doesn’t make me gain weight. Smoking was not a thrill anymore so i quit! alcohol is limited to once a week and very moderate! Now my goal is to be on the cover of Men’s Health magazine, still very vain!

15 shymax1979 03.23.08 at 8:23 pm

being a chubby kid.. ok la fat!, always made me a bit shy, i was always a recluse and avoid going to public places as people made fun of me (or so i thought) my confidence level was non existent. then i met a guy of my dreams he was in my university and have the most gorgeous face and body. i started to fixate on him and joined every class he was in either martial arts or sports. i had a goal, to be closer to him and maybe ask him out one day. he didnt take notice of me at first but after a year when i started to look better and was really into fitness a casual conversation took place when he commented on how dedicated i was at the gym and tae kwon do as i never miss a class,if only he knew why! to cut it short he asked me for a date n we r inseparable since! The power of having a goal n motivation is really something !
