The Power Plate – For Real or Just Another Vibrating Gimmick?

by Noel Chelliah on Wednesday, Nov 5, 2008

The Power Plate in Malaysia The Power Plate, a new workout machine that claims to build muscle, increase athletic performance, reduce bodyfat, lessen cellulite, and a whole list of other benefits – in a fraction of the time.

The claim?
Using the principles of Acceleration Training™ to stimulate the body’s natural response to vibration, the Power Plate uses vibrations to transmit waves of energy throughout the body, activating muscle contractions between 25 and 50 times per second, enhancing overall performance in sessions as short as 15 minutes a day, 3 times a week.

Is it available here in Malaysia?
It’s been around the industry for quite a while now, and yes, it IS available here in Malaysia.

Does it really work?
I’ve been given the privilege to try the machine out myself on an average of 3 times a week for the past month – and the results? Well, stay tuned for my report coming soon over the next few days.

Well, I guess I’ll have to come back to your blog 3 weeks later for the result. ^^ Good luck!

I’m curious to see what you think. My clients were talking about this machine this summer. The trainer they use in Florida has one in his facility. For me, I kind of relate it to the Poliquin example of swatting flies…it’ll make you tired, but the intensity is so low there really isn’t much of a training effect.

But, like I said…I haven’t been on one so I’m curious.

I have been using the powerplate myself over the past two weeks and have seen results that quickly much to my surprise. I appreciate the lymphatic stimulation effects as well! The vibration was awkward to get used to at first, but now I love it.

Irene, and everyone else – just a quick update to answer your questions:

Personally, I think the Power Plate is an incredible addition to my existing workout routine. It has allowed me to reach new heights – I am now leaner than I ever have been before, and also in great physical shape! Every morning, I secretly lift my t-shirt off to see my physique in my room mirror. (Oh well.. not much of a secret already now).

Once again everyone – stay tuned for the update – this Saturday I’ll be heading over to take photographs of the Power Plate myself.
