What a huge and stellar effort she must’ve put in for those 3 months. She looks stunning now!
She lost the weight over 18 weeks if I’m not mistaken. She would also have a lot of loose skin (which she is probably hiding very well) - anyone who loses 140 lbs would.
DM,
Actually they started filming Season 7 of The Biggest Loser in October 2008. The finale was 2 days ago so it’s around 7 months of progress. TV only showed 18 weeks - they got to go back home for a month during the holiday season and they finished filming end of February - so about 2+ months between episode 19 and the finale.
That being said, it’s still amazing. Google up for Mike Morelli & Tara Costa too. The 2 other finalists also managed to shed more than 50% of their bodyweight.
I’ve read where some of the contestants weight ballooned back after their season, and what they endured during the whole ordeal, like hours in sauna before the weigh in process, hours of crazy exercise regiments that rival the Gladiators exercise.
TBL is good as motivation for the obese, but it wont work in real life, not without your own doctor, personal trainer and ass kicker like Jillian. No one in real world will workout for 8 hrs a day voluntarily :P
But I watch the show for the drama, and to see the contestants realizing that their weight is more than just there physically, and how losing that weight means more than just losing all the excess pounds to them
how do you lose 140lbs in say, 6-7 months? That’s almost not human! But seeing is believing I guess. At the rate they workout (full time), it puts my 1 hour plus workout to shame!
But I love this show. It keeps me going.
Could you get rid of lose skin after losing >100lbs without resorting to surgery?
If yes, how?
This is amazing in such short period of time ! *envious* This makes me feel like my progress is like snail pace…*shakes head* -.-
Jo Ann, at least you’re making progress!
:)
OMG this is simply astounding. I dont follow the episodes, but with these pictures… I am lost for words actually…
In reality..real life it might not be that practical to work out 8 hours a day..but still they are great inspirations. I’ve not followed The Biggest Loser now..life gets in the way..but the contestants had given me the most powerful message: my only competitor is myself and all obstacles are just in my mind..once I get through them, I can do anything!
Do you guys notice that she has alot of loose skin on her arm (below the armpit area as shown in the 3rd picture). I guess she must have been doing it very hard to lose weight to the extent that her body natural function does not cope fast enough to shrink her skin compared to her her weight loss progress. I guess overtime, if she does not gain back the old weight, her loose skin will disappear. She is a great inspiration to others!
Is it my imagination or does the excess saggy skin make her look older when she has slimmed down?
Losernator: With the amount of exercise they get in a day, and what they eat - it is possible. Remember, this is a tv show/reality show with a US$250,000 prize dangling before them - they workout really long hours and go to extremes - not practical or safe for us, just like huew has mentioned above.
Aizan - don’t think you can do it without surgery.
actiontaker - with incredible weight loss like this, there will always be loose skin, regardless of how fast one loses the weight.
jo Foo - yeah definitely, I agree. She looks older.
I have seen on more than one website that it can take your skin 18 months to shrink back and adhere to your new slimmer frame… and that after that time period, then you will see how much skin you have deal with… People jump into surgery way too quickly to eliminate the extra skin and any Dr. that is worth the money will tell you to wait …
