The Biggest Loser Asia - Coming Soon this 2009!

by dailymuscle on June 3, 2009

advertisement

Finally - the time has come for me to explain the ‘Biggest Loser’ sightings which took place over the last weekend at the Kuala Lumpur city area. Here’s what took place last weekend:

More pics over here.

Well, this is NOT the real show - but simply an awareness exercise done by the producers of the real show. 2 real Personal Trainers with 10 real overweight individuals, combing the streets of KL and performing random exercise drills at various locations. It was quite a scene actually, as it was very amusing and it caught many people by surprise.

An awareness for what you ask? Well… as some of you may have already guessed by now… the show is coming to Asia!.

Without further delay, here are some of the facts I got from one of the members of the team from NBC Universal (Singapore).

- It will be an Asian version, therefore covering other Asian countries
- 2 participants from each country (that means only 2 from Malaysia)
- Contest is to be held in Malaysia
- Scheduled to start after the muslim fasting month
- The prize money is US$100,000
- Casting for the participants is expected to begin this July
- Naturally, the Personal Trainers for the show will be from the gym which turns out to be the major sponsor (so no Bob Harper or Jillian Michaels - just pray that it is not one of the mobile-phone wielding trainers we have here)
- Exact dates, further announcements and more information will be made available over the Hallmark Channel, so you need to keep watching

*Although from a reliable source - since what I’ve listed above is only through ‘word-of-mouth’, it shouldn’t be taken as fact, and could still be subject to change as the show/casting has yet to start.

So there you go.. now you know what all the madness over the weekend was about. In my opinion.. I am indeed thrilled and can’t wait for the show to begin, and also glad that it will be in our very own Malaysia.

I am curious to see just how big the participants will be, the eating recommendations/diets these guys are put on, and of course - whoever the trainers are, they’ve got big shoes to fill.

interesting. wonder how much weight one needs to lose/weight at in order to qualify. i wonder if i qualify :P Can’t remember where I read but there was an article floating saying that previous participants of The Biggest Loser in US ate sugar-free jello a lot or pretty much every meal :P

2 dailymuscle 06.03.09 at 8:26 pm

Sugar-free jello shouldn’t be a problem to any diet.

3 alyssa 06.03.09 at 9:17 pm

Help Us…..

6 michelle 06.05.09 at 5:16 pm

i think there will be a lot of people who want to join. I am desperate to join as well. I need all the help I can get to lose this weight and get healthy!

7 Chrissy 06.07.09 at 2:33 pm

Hey Simran and FatGirl! I’ve lost 17 pounds in one month this August by watching the US biggest loser program and trying to do what they do. My starting weigh was exactly 300 pds and now im 283. I finally stopped lying to myself and ate small and healthy portions. Everything I eat tastes great! I exercise twice a day (cardio and resistance traning) and I do not kill myself doing it. It’s not a diet it’s a lifestyle change.

I eat healthy too like chicken burgers, chili and brown rice, wheat pasta with shrimp and a low-cal white sauce, bbq chicken, a bunch of asian veggie dishes, chicken parmasean, beef with brocoli, baked chicken fingers, steak and salad, veggie soups, salads, slim fast shakes for breakfast, I love cheese and often have the low fat version for snacks, etc. The posibilities are endless. I also eat 2 slices of pizza and a diet coke during the weekends to celebrate my weekly weight loss! =)

Shoot I’ll be the first to admit that I’m the laziest person I know. But I’m tired of being overweight. So if I can do it then so can you!

8 michelle 06.07.09 at 3:53 pm

Hey Chrissy! 17 pounds in 1 month??? My gosh.. that is great! I exercise once a day and am dieting and cutting my food drastically only treating myself once a week but even then i only lose 2 to 3kgs a month. How do you do it?

9 FatGirl 06.08.09 at 8:57 am

Thanks Chrissy,

After watching TBL on Hallmark, i’ve also are now slowly watch everything that i’ve ate (but sometimes the temptation is sooo high)..But slowly i’m not like before (u can said like a garbage)…And for this past 2 week…for the 1st time in my life…i’ve been jogging…(huhuhu ermmm…walking is the right word i guess..but only once a week)..

Since then i’ve been losing around 5kg = 11lbs…but because it was not consistant…my weight (up and down around that 5kg)…but yesterday my weight is 154kg = 339lbs…(waaaa…) after all the weddings last saturday n sunday..so today i’ll try to watch my food again…thanks for that information…and i’ts make me motivated….

tq!
xoxo

Hi Ladies
big girls like us need all the support we can get - and its not easy when you are surrounded by family and friends who are slim and eat a lot and don’t put on weight.. and they don’t understand the struggles that we go through!
So how about we all support each other and encourage each other in getting to the size we want and becoming healthy??
I know I could use it…
Maybe we could meet up on weekends to exercise together and hang out and motivate each other?

michelle

13 Adeline 06.08.09 at 11:35 pm

DM, a little too quite, aren’t u? any ideas how to help them? :)

14 dailymuscle 06.09.09 at 12:39 am

Hey girls - it is awesome that you are taking the initiative to create a support group of your own - when you guys DO meet up… do drop me a note - I’ll be more than glad to help you guys out. :)

15 ctnor 06.09.09 at 9:41 am

Hye gals…

I am glad im not the only one (gald may not be the right words.. guess u know what i mean). All these while I believe what I am lacking of is support and friends who understand how I feel and what I have been thru. I will be 35 by year end and currently weigh at 150kg. I dunno how it feel to be a slim person but alfter watching TBL on Hallmark… somehow it motivates me. I bought a treadmill and started cardio… its tough to do it all alone but I know at least I’ve started. So gals. if you plan to meet up pls count me in. Maybe we can hang out at the gym and do exercise together. How’s that :)

16 ctnor 06.09.09 at 9:42 am

Chrissy… gal share with me how u shed off 17 pounds…need to see u in person

17 melkoo 06.09.09 at 11:40 am

wow! this is exciting! i want to join the biggest loser asia too! i cannot agree enough that we need to support each other to loose weight! i’m 30, abt 110kgs. I’ve been fat all my life and have gone thru many many MANY times of “trying to loose weight”! well i did, but always put back more! i’ve also spent soooo much on all the slimming centres, this plan that plan - just short of going for operation such as lipo or gastric bypass!

well, i’m at it AGAIN this year. you can read my journey here:
http://fabfourplusone.blogspot.com/2009/04/mels-review-of-first-quarter-2009.html

i’m beginning to loose the steam again but thank God i’m surrounded by very motivating & encouraging friends to push me on! so yes, if TBL is on, i’m IN! cant wait for the details!!

cheers!

18 FatGirl 06.09.09 at 2:13 pm

DM…you can be our ‘Bob Harper’…huhu

19 ctnor 06.09.09 at 2:27 pm

hi Melkoo…

20 dailymuscle 06.09.09 at 2:55 pm

Hey ladies… can someone coordinate this? If you guys can get a group together and have a location to meet - then drop me a line at author@dailymuscle.com, and I would be happy to assist!!! :D This is exciting.

21 michelle 06.09.09 at 5:27 pm

Hey ladies,

I don’t mind coordinating.
When is everyone free to meet? This Friday night maybe? We could meet for a “healthy” dinner and chat to get to know each other and discuss how we can support each other. DM will you be joining us?

My number is 0126187404. Call me or txt me and let’s get this support group going!!

xoxo

22 BigMomma 06.09.09 at 10:14 pm

Hi ladies…
I’ve been having trouble losing weight myself too. It’s good to know that we can start a support group to help each other out. I’m a 36 yr old single mom but my body is of a 61 yr old! I seriously need help to stay alive longer to watch my son grow up. Just like Melkoo, i’ve spent so much trying to loose weight but it just keep coming back. Being over 200 pounds for more than 13 years, life has never been easy for me. TBL is an eye opener for me. If those people can do it, why not us?

23 FatGirl 06.10.09 at 1:18 am

Thats great michelle…any suggestion where we could meet up?
I’m so excited….i’ll try to bring my friend also…

Actually, i’ve been email Media Prima and also Astro (in May)..just give them idea and suggestion to do TBL Malaysia…There are so many reality show in Malaysia..but it’s all the same…entertainment…and TBL is very different because it will open Malaysian eyes…to get healthy and stay healthy…but until now i didn’t get any feedback from them…but seriously…i am sure that if there is programme like this here in Malaysia it will change not only to the participants but also to the society…And really hope that there will be TBL Malaysia…(so more people like us can participate in this program)..

xoxo

24 dailymuscle 06.10.09 at 1:31 am

michelle: Yes I want to make it a point to join all of you, and to assist to the best of my ability. Weight loss isn’t rocket science, but you do need a guide - that’s where I can help.

FatGirl: I agree with you - but having a show of this nature isn’t like your typical reality show. The health risks involved are huge, and that is probably a risk that most producers don’t want to take. Plus, I think most Malaysians still put their trust in Slimming Centres, hence the support for such a show may not be as great as compared to if it were done someplace else. See my previous writeup: http://www.dailymuscle.com/2008/09/05/she-gained-weight-at-a-slimming-centre/

25 FatGirl 06.10.09 at 2:57 am

Thanks DM…but i really hope that they would take the risk…because i am….huhuhu

26 ctnor 06.10.09 at 7:42 am

Michelle.. great!. I love the idea. I’m in.

27 Simran Kaur 06.10.09 at 8:16 am

Hi..i do see that some of you are 30 to 50 …im feeling sad already …im just 23 years old and im 339 lbs. it is really killing me….have you guys experience this, whenever i walk in the shopping malls or on the streets of kl, people will stop and look at me like i am an alien ….coz im so freaking big size well im 174cms tall. and the rest of the people looks reallly small around me ….. it happens to me all the time….. most of the people will either talk about me or look at me or even laugh at me…..being fat is a curse and i have been living with the curse all my life…. all my friends on my age wears beautiful clothes where as for me, i have very limited clothes to wear….. it is a curse ….the feeling of being rejected , being a joke for other people kills me and it demotivates me to lose weight and i always end up crying and eating more…..hmmm…. im feeling sad already !!!

28 ctnor 06.10.09 at 8:21 am

My Dear Simran, dont be so sad girl. I know exactly how you feel. If you need someone to talk to or to share stories.. pls call anytime. being in this situation what a person needs is a friend who listens and cares..

30 ctnor 06.10.09 at 8:36 am

Hi Michelle, besides sunway is there any other alternatve to be considered? just checking

31 michelle 06.10.09 at 8:43 am

yes definitely.. im not sure where everyone is based so if you guys can give suggestions, it would be great :-)

32 ctnor 06.10.09 at 8:49 am

can i pls suggest the curve as another option :)

33 michelle 06.10.09 at 8:53 am

sounds fine to me… though I was just thinking that maybe we should forget shopping malls altogether for this meet up? and meet at a restaurant outside a mall - that way it would be less stressful for some of us - you know how it can get right? friday night, the curve is crowded, and people are going to be staring at a group of fat ladies… it pisses me off!
DM, maybe you can suggest a restaurant that serves healthy food where we can all hang out together without becoming public displays? :-)

34 ctnor 06.10.09 at 9:04 am

yeah, u are right. The place it a bit crowded and difficult to get parking spaces during friday night.

35 ctnor 06.10.09 at 9:06 am

I called but u didnt pick up michelle :-)

36 michelle 06.10.09 at 10:08 am

hey sorry i was in a meeting. tried calling your mobile but no reply.. call me once u are able to talk ya

37 dailymuscle 06.10.09 at 10:27 am

michelle: Yeah, shopping malls may not be a good idea - at the same time, I don’t know of any places without much crowd. *Thinking*…

Either way, Sunway/Curve area is fine with me. I may be busy, so can only join after 9pm.

38 FatGirl 06.10.09 at 11:01 am

Simran….i think that is normal to people like us… : ( before this i only have 2 tshirt and 2 jeans (skirt)…that is what i’ve been waring for about 3 years if i’m outside…lastyear while i was in Spore i’ve found this one shop that has alot of big size tshirt…ang i was like heavently shopping there….and for just a moment i feels hows my friend feels everytime they went shopping…

And recently i found this one shop in here that have this all big size clothes (The Boss at Giant Taman Permata..they also has outlet at Kotaraya) ..and i’m wearing 5xl…(the biggest)..and now i’m not only wearing baju kurung to the office….huhuhu

How about Bangsar? Is there anyplaces that we can go to?

xoxo

39 Simran Kaur 06.10.09 at 11:31 am

Thanks for that info babez…..same here…i only wear punjabi suits at work…i dont have jeans to wear…its really hard to look pretty coz we dont have nothing to wear …. has anyone felt this way….. upon my own expereince, i sometimes do see a very charming personality in fat people, i see it in me as well but for some reason , i mean because of just one reason , we are unable to bring out our personality at work or in our lives because we feel shy or timid in front of the rest …has anyone felt this way … Being fat has affected me in all aspects of my life. Myt social life is completely ruined now …. my work life is boring to hell.. being fat is a curse for me…..has anyone gone through statements like…’heyy girl, ure so pretty but you re too fat…im freaking tired of all this and i hate these statements….has anyone felt this way before…… i hate this feeling of being fat and i need someone to push me …coz i cant do it alone…its hard….

40 lola 06.10.09 at 12:11 pm

Hi! I’m Melkoo’s friend/gym buddy/colleague etc..I’d love to join you guys on Friday too! I wanna be there to support ya’ll and Mel esp. I hope she can make it for TBL!

41 BigMomma 06.10.09 at 12:15 pm

Dear sweet Simran… dont be so hard on urself hun. I’ve been through worse situation. My ex-fiance’s family and relatives forced him to break up with me just bcoz i’m like an elephant and they didnt want me to be a humiliation to their clan. I was never good enough for anyone and not a pretty sight to be seen with. I drowned myself with food to ease the pain inside and grow even bigger after I lost my mom. Now I am a single mom to a 4 yr old and I have to think about his future. I know I cant stay unhealthy like this forever. Dont be sad Simran, with all the support from this group, I believe we can achieve our goals someday. If you need someone to talk to, you can reach me on 016-9691179.

Hi Michelle… thanks for organizing the group meeting. Let me know when and where once decided. I’ll try to join you guys. My little man will be coming too!

42 ctnor 06.10.09 at 12:40 pm

Im going to london this july… one of many things I cud think of is to find myself a nice tops or skirts that really fit my size. You know la how difficult it is ti find my size here in malaysia….

43 ctnor 06.10.09 at 12:49 pm

I am really excited for this meeting… cant wait to meet up with you guys. Michelle, can we fix a time ard 8pm instead of 7? Any place will do

44 michelle 06.10.09 at 12:55 pm

54 Chrissy 06.10.09 at 7:02 pm

Omg! The support you guys got going on here is amazing! Unfortunately I’m not in Malaysia so I can’t join you guys. =( I’m in the Philippines. If only I were there I would join you guys in a heart beat!

I’d just like to share with you guys what I to share with you guys what a typical exercise routine is like for me on a weekly basis.

Mon: AM – 20 min Turbo Jam (like Tae-bo), 45 min resistance training
PM – 1 Hour slightly brisk walk
Tues: 30min Turbo Jam
Wed: AM – 10 min Aero Tae-bo, 45 min resistance training
PM – 1 Hour slightly brisk walk
Thurs: 20 mins interval training on a stationary bike, 10 or 20 min Turbo Jam
Fri: AM: 30 Biggest Loser Cardio
PM – 1 Hour slightly brisk walk
Sat: Biggest Loser Powesculpt, OR 20 min Interval training on the treadmill, OR 30 mins Turbo Jam, or 20 min Interval training on a stationary bike
Sun: Rest…Yaaay!

When I do my resistance training the weights I lift range from 6lbs(free weights) to 50lbs on a machine. I also do a lot of ab crunches which really helps strengthen my back and my posture had significantly improved. I also do a lot of wall-push ups!!! Which I really recommend! Hopefully one day I could do the normal kind! Wall sits are fun and challenging too!

I seriously recommend Interval training. Even when I was 300 pounds it’s quit easy to do on a bike. Maybe DM could explain to you guys how this works. It’s a super calorie burner!

The Biggest Loser Cardio and Powersculpt workout DVD are kind of tough at first. When I first started doing them I couldn’t go past 10 minutes because everything was burning! Lol But trust me…it all gets easier around week 2 or 3. I highly recommend the BL workout DVDs, I sweat the most with these.

As you can see the cardio I do is not really super challenging! None of my workouts make me make those “painful” faces that the contestants make on the BL show! Hehe And this routine helps me lose and average of 4-6 pounds a week. The most difficult part is finding the time to your workout.

Remember make no excuses. Period! Some days I really don’t want to workout at all, but I just say to myself, “What the hell is wrong with you!!! Get going!” lol

Guys remember! I cannot stress enough how important it is to control your portions and eat right! I used to exercise day and night last year and wonder why I would only lose a couple of pounds a month. But now I really have given up on food high in sugar, salt, and fat the weight is coming off fast!

55 ikram 06.10.09 at 11:33 pm

57 michelle 06.11.09 at 8:19 am

great! looking forward to it!

58 former fat dude 06.11.09 at 10:52 am

guys, u don’t need to join any show to lose weight! There is no mystery to losing weight. All you need to do is exercise and eat 5 to 6 small meals a day (cut down on food like rice) and you will definitely lose weight.

BTW I found that exercises such squats, lunges, deadlifts , military press and bench press can help burn more fat compared to doing only cardio. These type of exercises are called compound exercise.

And ladies, you can also do these exercise. Don’t know why malaysian chicks are reluctant to carry weights. In US most of the chicks have nice bodies bcos they are not afraid to carry weights!

59 gerbera 06.11.09 at 12:36 pm

hi guys,
i’ve been reading ur comment and i like to join u all too.
actually im in healthy bmi range but i still want to lose few kgs
currently i was 56kg but i need to lose another 4kgs
Last 3 years i was 65kg. Consider fat for my height .(Im only 158cm)
I lost 15kgs in nearly 8-10mths. The only exercise was walking about 4km daily to work. And i skip dinner. But then after i bought a car , the weight is slowly increase. Hehehe.. Previously i do yo-yo diet. But then i always got headache, dizzy. Maybe because of the lack of food. Then i got scared and want to lose weight in healthy ways= Exercise. I started jogged last months and honestly i gained 1kg instead of losing it. Im so frustrated but after reading 1 of DM post ,it give me relief. Now, i just go for jog 5 days a week.
Now i feel healthier, energetic.
But it would be good if i got some friends work out together. Maybe we can share good& healthy recepies too.
Anyone from Kota Kemuning/Bukit Jalil?

60 melkoo 06.11.09 at 5:18 pm

hey michelle & gang,
sorry for the long silence! yes yes lola and i will be there but wont not join for dinner and probably be late. we will call you michelle!

Hi Young Fat girl…we are all in the same boat…we are all overweight and i think uts better to start losing some weight before it s too late . dont be like me . being a girl, it is very very important for us to be thin and beautiful. dont give anyone a chance to look down on you, if you dont start now, you will never be able to do it… this is just a small advice from me, coz i ve gone through a lot and im still going hroughthe same shit…dont give anyone a chance …take control while you can or it will be too late….

Mano, your story is really inspiring. Its really good to know that you lost 15kg which is around 33 lbs . That is fantastic. thats like 10% of my weight. YOu have inspired me . I am going to start off now and well see how far can i go …. i just need blessings from god and support from all of you over here ….. thanks

65 mano 06.12.09 at 3:36 pm

yeah, that’s the spirit gal!!u have to do it, mark a target and get started. but don’t push urself too much then u’ll just get bored 1 day and give up k. so do it slowly and steady k cos our body can’t take too much of pressure it can cause us a lot of problem.

66 ctnor 06.12.09 at 4:33 pm

…the purpose of losing weight is more to be healthy rather than to look thin and beautiful
its not that bad if we have curve and more meat than the top model who normally thin and skinny. most important how confident and confortable u r in your own skin :-)

Last night I was with a friend and he wanted to tag along. We were on our way to Kelana jaya. Somwhere at a traffic light , a car hit us by the rear side. Both of us came out from the car to see what happen and I left my mobile inside the car. It was really bad and a bit chaos when the guy starts blaming my frriend and said we were not suppose to stop when the light is still yellow. Mad man! My friend almost smack him on his face… We have no choice but to go the the police station and when I got into the car I realise my phone is gone. Gosh! Guess someone took it when we were outside..i was feeling so bad because I couldnt call you and tell you what happn. I am so sorry Michelle… How ws the get together? hi ct. I was wondering what happened. sorry to hear about what happened.
unfortunately, there were a lot of cancellations, so in the end it was just DM and me but i had a good time and got lots of good tips from DM :-)

Everyone interested in the support group, please drop me an email at michelle.sebastian@comfori.com
It would be easier to communicate via email rather than here and we can plan another gathering. If we can meet once a week or maybe once in two weeks, that would be great.
Looking forward to receiving your emails!
Cheers!

Hi Everyone,

I alwiz thought that Malaysia has a minimum of PLUS SIZE ppl :) and im one of the BIGGEST here in this country and therefore normally feel DEmotivated, etc bt i am GLAD to meet allllllll of u here & know all of u..i think we should form a Club (3B’s) = BIG But BEAUTIFUL :)) Therefore, we feel motivated and can meet up at 1 location to share ideas, diets, sometimes go for exercise & aerobics, etc… coz if we were to just walk in an aerobic centre now…its close to IMPOSSIBLE for us to do those exercise…(esp when all r small & we r the ONLY few big ones)…we r not in US where everyone is big rite? its a normal thing there…here,MALAYSIANS look at BIG PEOPLS as if they are “ALIENS”…i get tht all the time..we are all beautiful, bt because we are BIG…its totally negative….

Simran, i agree with wht u say…1001 MEN out there have told me..”Ur so pretty, u have the best heart, etc bt UR BIGGGG”….so,what are WE WAITING for?? Lets do sumthing and dont feel NEGATIVEEEEEEE!!!

Im only 29 yrs old bt im extremely biggggggggg…..

Pls drop me an email :)) would love to meet all of u!

P.S: Does anyone know abt the Biggest Loosers Asia thingy in Langkawi? anyone of u joined? how do we go abt it?

92 Nisha 06.22.09 at 6:11 pm

Hi All,

I have a GOOOOD & INTERESTING NEWS for ALL of US :))

I know how hard is it to get good, nice, modern CLOTHES for OUR BIG SIZE…we only can go to places like Ms Read (Old fashion clothes), Total Women,BOS,Marks & Spencer (Tooo Expensive),etc…

I am MOST LIKELY planning to open a small business for BIG & PLUS modern clothes :)) I would just like to get ALL ur feedback on wht kinda clothes to u all prefer:-

a) Jeans
b) Blouses
c) Skirts
d) Inner wear -Bra & panties
e) Dresses
f) Tshirts
g) Pants
h) Swimwear
e) Sleepwear/Sexy Sleepwear

Any other suggestions??

I would like to also ask ALL your opinion…is it better to do this business online or is it better if i open like a stall or should i open a shop in a mall or wht??

Hope to hear from all of u & get ALL ur support in this business…

We should NOT feel less sexy or less beautiful than those slim, slender women out there :)) therefore i wanna bring in realllly nice & modern clothes so we can look BIG & BEAUTIFUL :)

Plsss drop me an email on ALL ur ideas…. at purnisha@yahoo.com

Thanks aloot :))

93 Losernator 06.25.09 at 1:21 am

Wow, there’s a whole group going on here! Great stuff!

Can I just say don’t be too hard on yourself, i think most girls (including myself) have gone through the ‘beat-me-up’ phase but it’s really about taking control of yourself and your everyday life! It’s not going to be easy and neither is it an overnight thing but once you see the results bit-by-bit you’ll feel motivated and work harder towards seeing those pounds/kilos go down!

I have been through it, shed tears, have had pants ripped because I was getting too fat. I’m sure with some guidance and tips from DM, some hard work + effort, you’ll notice something — I’ve lost 10kgs so far and I’m continuing to work really hard at the gym everyday.

Good luck girls!!

oops this is my email wfhn@yahoo.com tx

97 nella 07.02.09 at 9:48 am

hye… i think our country, Malaysia should also organize this TBL. There are so many people that need help in matter of their weight and also their lifestyle. I mean, if every year, there are various reality tv shows in Malaysia, so, TBL also should be consider. Sorry but honestly, i have enough with all the singing competition. There are too many singer in our small country. TBL is the right tv show that all the sponsors should think about.

98 dailymuscle 07.04.09 at 11:58 pm

nella: I agree with you, but a show like that is not like your typical reality show. Think of all the health risks the participants will face…

And everyone… I’ve been getting all your emails and questions, etc… all I can say is please visit the official website at:

http://www.biggestloserasia.com/

for more information.

99 mira 07.05.09 at 8:45 pm

100 Amma 07.06.09 at 6:35 pm

How to apply for the cxompetition? I am Thai and living in Bangkok.
I know The first biggest loser in Asia will be held at KL. When is the next round?

Thnaks

101 nella 07.07.09 at 2:17 pm

hmm.. you are right. But, if other country can do it, we also can do it. TBl is not like other reality tv, thats why it is should be held in Malaysia. This is for Malaysian. Every year, the statistic of people that are obese increases. Actually, i am not 1 of them. i am a normal girl with the height of 164 and the weight of 60 kg.however, i care for them. i know how is their feeling. btw, this is only my opinion.

102 annie 07.15.09 at 4:14 pm

To those of you who are STILL, UNTIL TODAY, leaving comments on my blog and sending me emails asking how to audition for the Biggest Loser Asia, well I’ve already mentioned it in my previous posts “The Biggest Loser Asia - LIVE Ground Auditions… will you be there?” and “The Biggest Loser Asia - Auditions happening NOW“. Basically, there are two ways to be in the running to be selected for the show.

1. Submit a Video Audition via the Official Biggest Loser Asia website

2. Be there at the Ground Auditions happening this month at various locations (remember to bring along a completed contestant application form along with you).

All the best to each and every one of you!

109 HotMomma 10.14.09 at 11:16 am

Hey y’all,
It’s amazing to see how many of us here in Malaysia are overweight and ready to make some positive changes. I am 31, and weighed 260lbs (my heaviest) about 2 months ago. Having been overweight all my life, things got worse after I became pregnant in 2003. It’s never easy to look myself in the mirror, in fact, it’s my enemy. I can’t shop for clothes, so all my office clothes are tailor-made. I hate wearing a saree as my bulges are made visible!

I have tried diet shakes, starvation, etc but I couldn’t maintain the weight loss coz i was always hungry and would binge. TBL is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It became clear to me that changing the diet alone isn’t enough, we got to become more active and start to monitor our calorie intake, and EXERCISE! And as what Bob always says “today is the first day of your life, so start today, don’t wait for Jan 1″.

I have invested in a cardio dual action bike, and have been working out on it for the past 8 weeks. My diet basically consists of a protein shake for breakfast (soy, wheat, skim milk & wheat grass powder - great for detox), for snack it’s usually a green apple. Lunch I would have tuna/egg sandwich (I use sprouted wheat bread), lots of veges (lettuce, romaine, tomatoes). Another snack is a 90 calorie bar or fruits. Dinner is usually a green juice (the juice of fresh greens). Drink lots of water throughout the day! I have lost 8kgs, but I have a long way to go :) Its hard work, when everyone around me is eating nasi lemak, fried chicken, pizza, burgers, etc. It’s a constant challenge to fight off the cravings.

Nevertheless, I agree with all of you, it’s always good to have some support system to ensure you don’t fall off the wagon. My hubby and I support each other, hopefully, we will be successful to gain a healthier lifestyle and to set a good example to our 5 yr old son.

I wish you all the very best in your endeavor as well.

Cheers
HotMomma

110 Ann 10.27.09 at 5:51 pm

Hi All,

I believe we all have been through lots of diet programmes and all sorts of exercises and the end results are all the same…. We DIDN’T LOSE WEIGHT and as a matter of fact… some of us might even GAIN WEIGHT! I was always on the fat side ever since young… NEVER been slim.. (Booo…Hooo..hoooo)

I just happen to browse through and saw your predicaments!! It is good to know there are support group for people like us!! At times… it is difficult trying to lose weight by yourself.. Alone! When you have lots of Kgs to lose it is not easy to do it by youself..

After much failures.. I have lost faith in ever losing weight. I have given up hope until now!

I am 44 and very very XXXXXXXXXL Obese! Doctors, dietician, personal trainer… cannot help me! What got worse is when my hormone tilt the scale… I just grew and grew and grew!!!

I guess we all know that in order to lose weight we need to change what we eat. But we just can’t give up on all those yummy stuff that we crave!

I know of a product that I just started couple of months ago and it has proven effective… I have lost about 15Kgs now…

Need to go now… will let you know more if any of you are interested…

112 dailymuscle 10.30.09 at 10:18 am

HotMomma: I’m glad to hear about your progress - keep it up and you won’t be disappointed. Btw, I used sprouted bread too - a lot more expensive, but worth the money in my opinion. All the best to you, your hubby and your 5yr old son!

Ann: Sorry but I really don’t agree on your methods - when you don’t address the problem but resort to short-cuts for temporary weight loss… you will only mess things up permanently for yourself, and find it harder to maintain your weight loss.

Zak: Cheap promo?

120 PreetiP 03.20.10 at 7:23 pm

Hi All,
interesting to see all of us here, blogging and talking..
I was 105 kgs, now 93 kgs and still trying…
I tried diet etc but failed several times…what worked was to be honest pushing myself on the treadmill(even if it means beginning at only 50 calories a day)..I continued it till i reached about 350-400 cal avg burn out..not at one go, several 10 min. intervals can do good too.

Eating plenty but checking also helped. I gave up fat, bread rice carbs for 6 days a week(legumes, fruits and veggies only- no oil). Yes, I celebrated by eating whatever i wanted on sunday..

6 weeks and I was 12 kg less…
Hope this helps.
Preeti

121 dailymuscle 03.24.10 at 2:04 pm

PreetiP: That’s good - but remember not to overdo things - sometimes, taking things slow is the key to long-term success. Train hard, and eat well. Wish you all the best!
