Can A Dessert Be Healthy? Fitness First Dessert Night - Potluck @ The Curve

by dailymuscle on March 30, 2010

If you’ve been a dailymuscle.com reader long enough, you would know by now that I’m a big fan of making your own meals - not just because it’s ‘the right thing to do’, but simply for the 2 following reasons I believe to be crucial in the quest for a better body:

1. It is the most cost-effective way to get top-notch nutrition

You get full control of the ingredients that go in - and you don’t settle for the cheapest (like most restaurants would do). You can even go organic if you want to - and it would be far cheaper than eating the same thing outside.

2. It gets you into the habit of preparing your own meals

Whether if it’s to be eaten immediately, or meals that you prepare ahead to take with you to work, etc (so you can stick to your eating plan, and not have to eat the junk you’re usually surrounded with). Plus, you could really impress your date.

I was at the gym a couple of days ago when I noticed they were holding this fun event (sorry for the poor-quality photo):

How to Lose Weight by Eliminating Stress

by dailymuscle on March 29, 2010

I’d like to tell you about my friend, K.

You see, K used to be in his ideal weight. But just lately, he has been gaining weight rather quickly - all this without much change to his food intake. The only one thing that stands out about his lifestyle at the moment is that he is on his last year at college, and currently in the midst of a very stressful IT internship.

K is also someone who takes any job given to him very seriously (which is a good thing), but he likes to bring work back home, work overtime (even if he doesn’t get paid for it), and worry himself about everything else at work.

Just last week, he told me he needs new pants cos his existing ones are getting tighter.

Here are some of his other habits: [click to continue...]

A Breakfast Moment at Home (and FREE Download of the BodyRedemption System Lesson)

by dailymuscle on March 24, 2010

This is an unofficial extra lesson for The BodyRedemption System.

Since one of my morning appointments got canceled today, I had a bit more time to spend on breakfast - I decided to take some snapshots to share with you guys on what an ideal body transforming breakfast can be like - and how easy it is to prepare.

I like doing this because I’m a firm believer in preparing your own meals - you get good nutrition at a fraction of the cost AND, it is easy to do if you only gave it a shot and tried it for yourself. The problem is that most people would only read this post, and not do anything about it.

It is tragic that people will sit for hours on facebook, or spend an unthinkable amount of time at the hair salon - but unwilling to spend some time and effort to whip up a healthy meal.

One way to take your physique to the next level is to get into the habit of preparing your own meals. . This is covered in a bit more detail in the BRS Lesson for “Day 19 - Fire Up Your Stove”. Now for a limited time - download this lesson for free HERE. (right-click and “Save Target As”).

Eating healthy can be pretty expensive (and even then, you don’t have full control or knowledge over what goes into your meal) - and for those of us unwilling to fork out the money for a nutritious meal, we end up settling for the cheap stuff - roti canai, nasi lemak, some kuih, and then we whine that it is SOOO difficult to eat healthy.

I shared the following example in the BodyRedemption System to show readers the price contrast between a healthy meal and junk:

Grilled Chicken Sandwich (with a side of fresh veggies) at d’lish Bangsar: RM15.90

BBQ Chicken Thigh with a side of veggies at Pannaz, Damansara Perdana: RM17.90

Nasi Lemak Taman Tun : RM1.00.
That’s cheaper than a newspaper (which by the way, probably has more fiber in it.)

No prizes for guessing which one is going to do you harm, and which one most people would rather reach for when they’re rushing to work.

Okay enough of rambling - cos you do know I can go on this topic forever, so here I proudly present to you my breakfast for today:

On that plate you see 2 tomatoes, sliced and grilled in an oven toaster, and 1 slice toast with some natural peanut butter

These are surprisingly easy to make:
1. Slice 2 tomatoes
2. Smother them with a just a few dashes of olive oil
3. Place them in the toaster
4. Sprinkle salt, and a dash of dried/fresh rosemary leaves (optional)
5. Grill for 10 minutes or until desired softness

Not a day goes by where I don’t have one of these - a super shake (taught in detail in the BRS).
Today’s variation:
1. One green apple
2. Bunch of frozen chopped spinach
3. 1 tsp flax seeds
4. 5 ice-cubes
5. 2 dashes milk
6. 1 scoop chocolate flavoured whey protein powder
7. 1 cup freshly brewed ground coffee (couldn’t resist!)
8. 2 dashes milk
9. Blend together and pour into a tall glass
10. Drink and get more nutrition than most people do in a whole week.

That’s more leafy green veggies than most people get in an entire day - and I’m just getting started with breakfast.

Topped it all off with my multi-vitamin, and approx 6g of fish oil, which is my maintenance dose. (Yes, that is fish oil and not a urine sample).

I had fun preparing breakfast - and way more fun eating it. It took me not more than 15 minutes to get it all prepared from start to finish. Can you spare 15 minutes too?

The lesson I’d like you to take away from today’s post is this - The success of your journey to a better body is in your hands. If you truly put in the hard work, the rewards will be sweet - I guarantee it.

Decide today - would you be that someone who gives this a shot, or are you gonna be that person who reads this, agrees with what I’ve said - and go back to your old habits tomorrow?

You decide.

In health,
DailyMuscle
P.S. - Don’t miss out on today’s free download of Lesson 19 from the BodyRedemption System. Save it, print it out - and try it. You’ve got nothing to lose (except bodyfat).

What’s in Your Shopping Cart?

by dailymuscle on March 17, 2010

I’ve got a confession to make. I’ve had this habit for years… and I don’t think it’s a nice thing to do. But I love to peep… peep into the shopping trolleys and baskets of other shoppers at the grocery store. :-) [click to continue...]

My Opinion on Asia’s FIRST Biggest Loser

by dailymuscle on March 15, 2010

It’s almost been a week now since they crowned Asia’s FIRST Biggest Loser here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - and being one of the more prominent health and fitness blogs, and also someone who’s talked about the show quite a bit over the last few months here on my blog, I’ve had more than a few curious people writing to me wondering why I have had nothing to say about the crowning of the winner.

To be honest, I am not as shocked as most people are at what has happened. And as a week has gone by, it’s pretty obvious that all over the Internet, people are ‘unhappy’ about what the winner, David Gurnani, has achieved. Again.. I’m not surprised. [click to continue...]
