I’d like you to take look at this Public Service Announcement (PSA), aimed at curbing childhood obesity. These series of PSAs are part of a campaign by the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Don’t worry – there’s nothing gory or gross in the video, but be warned, that it has a very strong message – one that would make most parents feel really awful. I’m not a parent and it made ME go silent for awhile.

The Stop Childhood Obesity: “Why am I Fat?” Video

This campaign, video (and others in the series) have become quite controversial. People are saying that the messages are negative, stigmatize children, and don’t effectively convey a solution.

But what do you think?

  1. Does this video offend you? Yes, or No.
  2. What improvements would you suggest?

Drop me a comment below – I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Noel

Better you and then any other Government funded “captain do-nut” who thinks he’s an expert in this field which is clearly never the case.

There’s a saying: “Truth Hurts” & if we are going to be all too “sensitive” over this matter then we’re never really going make anything happen. Obesity is liken to cancer, but somehow when it comes to issues on obesity, we aren’t to much bothered about it. Sad

I guess cos Obesity doesn’t sound very life-threatening like Cancer or heart Disease – although it is!

Bingo!!.. the ironic thing is though, most people will only start doing something about it later in life when the damage is already done. By then, its a whole “battle of the lifestyle” issue that needs to be addressed on top of expanding waistline and the complicated medical condition that comes along with it.

I guess because of obesity in children has infected million hundreds of children, the incidence of such campaigns is reasonable. against obesity is extremely difficult, right?
so there are many ways extreme should be done, especially from part of parents. parents would understand more than the child. ways that affect child psychological aspect is perhaps the most subtle ways. and one of ways to influence the awareness of parents is with this video: D
I’ve written a few tricks about it.

Great – thanks for sharing. And yes, parents/grown-ups should be able to accept the hard truth.
