Welcome Readers from The The Yoga Instructor Diaries!

by dailymuscle on January 30, 2009

Just a short note to welcome readers from The Yoga Instructor - Ninie Ahmad’s blog!

Ninie just today mentioned me on both her blogs http://theyogainstructordiaries.blogspot.com and http://theyogainstructorfooddiaries.blogspot.com in her story “The Importance of Realizing Your Problem, Admitting It, Wanting To Get Better and Seeking Help“.

Ninie Ahmad in a Side PlankIn her posts, Ninie, who is also the Official Ambassador/Brand Ambassador for the Adidas Yoga line ‘Stella McCartney’ talks about how she has over the past few weeks taken charge of her eating habits, physical activity, and is now enjoying the benefits of having a Professional Personal Trainer.

As Ninie also mentioned in her blog, we first met in early 2007 and we became instant friends immediately after. [click to continue...]

Things I Can’t Do Without As A Fitness Enthusiast

by dailymuscle on January 27, 2009

Just like how my pet Rottweiler, Troy, simply cannot be separated from his favourite toy…
My rottweiler Troy, and his rubber toy

He goes EVERYWHERE with it – even when I give him his bath or take him out!
My rottweiler Troy, and his rubber toy

So just like Troy, I too, have a few items that I almost cannot do without when I’m at the gym for my workout. Here they are, in no particular order:

Wrigley's Chewing Gum
Chewing Gum

My Ipod
My Ipod

Harbinger workout gloves
My Harbinger washable leather workout gloves

And last but not least…
Bell & Ross BR-02
My Watch
Real Personal Trainers wear REAL watches ;), and not just Heart Rate monitors to ‘make up’ for their lack of exercise.

I also carry a bottle of water with me at ALL TIMES (not pictured here).

Don’t get me wrong – it’s not that I wouldn’t be able to carry on with my workout without the above, but I certainly would feel very different and ‘out of place’ if I were to forget any one of them.

Now it’s your turn - what are some of the things YOU just HAVE to bring along with you when you work out? A favourite towel? Your mobile phone? An MP3 player? Do share!

P.S. – And stay tuned for my write-up coming soon – “Things I can’t do without as a Personal Trainer” (would you believe it even includes an eyeliner pencil? Yes you read correctly!) Subscribe to my newsletter to be notified when its up!

Spotted Doing Yoga - Uma Thurman and …?

by dailymuscle on January 21, 2009

As the title suggests - Uma Thurman was seen doing a 20-minute yoga routine on a passenger jet at the air hostess’s area. Read more about it here.

On another note… guess who else is going to be ’spotted’ doing Yoga this Friday? Me!
Yes, that’s right - the gym fanatic is about to take a walk on the other side.

After some persistent persuasion from a friend, I have decided to give it a shot. I really don’t know if I will ’survive’ the session, though the friend claims it will only consist of ‘beginner’ poses.. so.. we’ll see.

Is Yoga Right For Me? Well, looks like I will soon find out.

Anyone has a fun/funny/interesting experience to share when they first tried out Yoga?

Are You Living A Defeated Lifestyle?

by dailymuscle on December 29, 2008

I was at the gym just a couple of days ago, and noticed one overweight individual - the look of discomfort in her expression, in fact, it was very obvious she was uneasy just being there.. but you know what? She was there anyway - exercising and finding her way through in what many still assume to be a male-dominated activity - exercising at the gym. Whoever she is.. I admire her for her determination. Malaysia’s Thoughtless Ban on Yoga for Muslims

by dailymuscle on November 4, 2008

Yoga Banned in Malaysia for Muslims?
It is with great sadness and emotions I write this post. The title speaks for itself, that Malaysia has decided to ban Yoga for Muslims. So yes, Malaysia has made another great backward step into caveman-ism by banning Yoga for Muslims. How typical. [click to continue...]
